While Ethiopia still depends on import for most of its consumer goods, the export market has seen a boost in the last decade. Realizing that Ethiopian commodities such as lentils, sesame seeds and coffee are of high quality in the foreign markets, companies have benefited from sharing the rich cultural exports to the open market in exchange for much needed foreign currency.

Where the gap lies

This has in turn proved to be a beneficial move as the currency has been reinvested to import either common goods like breakfast cereal, health and beauty products, stationary and more.

These transactions are proving cumbersome for most companies involved in the Import/Export business. Preparing export documents, planning shipment bill of materials, calculating product cost and tracking inventory are just some of the issues that seem to trouble these companies.

Ethiopia's main export product is coffee; the country is credited to be the birth place of coffee and it has long been its major export product. Not only that, coffee plays a central role in the Ethiopian social fabric.

How we can help...

There’s so much that can be done to close these gaps. Our Sparta ERP offers modules that are customize-able to these needs.

As an industry that doesn't get involved in manufacturing, the import/export sector presents the opportunity to show our inventory management system in depth, as well as product costing feature that calculates the final import or export price of goods.

Add to that the connection to the back offices (Accounting, HR, and so on...) and you will get a streamline of other modules with Finance, Sales, Procurement and much more.
